In the Democratic primary for governor, it’s not a question of who can catch Keisha Lance Bottoms – it’s a question of who can claw their way into a distant second place to get into a runoff with her. A recent poll of likely Dem voters from from Education Reform Now Advocacy shows the former Atlanta mayor pulling away from the field, sitting at 42% of the vote. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
