Zoo Atlanta hosted Giant Pandas from 1999-2024, a successful quarter century that saw seven cubs born from Lun Lun and Yang Yang. But all the pandas returned home to China after some political drama, ending the partnership. Luckily that break didn’t last long – as it was announced recently that pandas will be returning to the Peach State this year. Male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang are making the long flight to Atlanta, and our zoo’s top notch team hopes to successfully produce some more Georgia cubs, as well as serve as the zoo’s most popular attraction once again. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
