Early voter turnout favors Democrats— so far

When over 272,000 Georgians cast Republican, Democrat and independent ballots by noon Tuesday, a new record was set for early voting in the Peach State. The Secretary of State’s office reports that at this point more Democrats than Republicans are casting their ballots. Bleckley County in South Georgia is experiencing the largest voter turnout on Tuesday with 11.2 percent. Butts County, home to Republican gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, had the second-highest turnout at 9.09 percent. The two counties with the lowest early voting totals are in South Georgia. Clinch County's turnout is 1.46 percent and Miller County is at 1.58 percent, according to the data.
