Republican leaders and others in Georgia’s political world are outraged that Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (who is also running for governor) is denying State Election Board members access to election night reporting. “This is an unacceptable assault on transparency,” says state GOP Chairman Josh McKoon. “Republican and Democrat SEB members alike must have full access to observe every step of the tabulation and reporting process on Election Day and throughout election night. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
