The state of Georgia flexed its athletic prowess once again this week during the NBA draft when Atlanta’s Caleb Wilson was drafted fourth by the Chicago Bulls. That marks the sixth straight draft that a Georgia-born player was picked in the top 10 – the Peach State is the only state to boast that this decade. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
