The massive cluster of federal office buildings in south downtown Atlanta is one of the largest in the nation outside of Washington D.C. But with the Trump Administration and Congress both looking to downsize to save money, the buildings’ future is in question. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
