The U.S. Department of Education is investigating three Georgia school systems as part of a wider investigation into the practice of letting teachers or employees who were accused of sexual misconduct transfer to other positions. DeKalb County, Richmond County and Savannah-Chatham County school systems are all part of the investigation, and superintendents from all three systems have said they will fully cooperate with the investigation, and that they are committed to protecting students. One of the breakout stars of this summer’s FIFA World Cup was “Freddy,” the German soccer fan who traveled the country, documenting his visit and capturing the hearts of Americans with his wide-eyed appreciation of Southern cultural landmarks like Buc-ee’s, Waffle House, and the north Georgia town of Helen.
