U.S. House passes defense bill, protecting Georgia assets

The U.S. House voted on Wednesday afternoon in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), mostly along party lines. Six Democrats voted in favor and seven Republicans (none of them from the Georgia delegations) voted against the record $1.15 trillion annual defense bill, bringing the final tally to 216-212. The funding is an increase of $250 billion more than last year’s NDAA, which would help rebuild depleted stockpiles of arms amid the war with Iran. An additional $73 billion was also earmarked for the Pentagon on Wednesday as part of a $95 billion budget tweak, which also included $12 billion in aid for American farmers.
