Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams has been stripped of his arrest powers after the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) suspended his law enforcement certification. This action came after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of extortion (he’s accused of receiving cash for dismissing DUI charges) and giving a Glock pistol to a convicted felon. The POST suspension still keeps Williams in office for now, but Gov. Brian Kemp can remove a sheriff while criminal charges are pending. The black sheriff says he’s innocent and claims his prosecution is “racist,” but his boat is SINKING…
