Following Gov. Brian Kemp’s suspension of all seven board members of the Dublin City Board of Education through an executive order, he has appointed two powerful lawmakers to serve on a special Nominating Committee for that board. House Appropriations Chairman Matt Hatchett, R-Dublin, and Senate President Pro Tem Larry Walker, R-Perry, will be part of the committee that includes other state and local leaders and community representatives to help identify qualified individuals to guide the school system during this transition.

The suspensions followed an August 12 State Board of Education hearing, after which the State Board unanimously voted to recommend the suspension of the entire Dublin board.
