Move over killer bees and Joro spiders, Georgia has a new invasive bug to look out for – the pasture mealybug. While not the most intimidating name nor profile, the tiny insect can devastate annual and perennial warm-season grasses, especially concerning to turf grass farmers, common in southwest Georgia. Bottoms ignored metro Atlanta counties
It’s shocking to learn that former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms never became a board member of the Atlanta Regional Commission because she never attended a single ARC board meeting during her tenure. Beyond missing the board meetings, the Democrat also refused to join ARC’s regional leadership visits to other metropolitan areas to examine city planning and technical infrastructure best practices. This contrasts sharply with her successor, Mayor Andre Dickens. He engaged with the bipartisan commission and later became ARC board chairman, emphasizing a desire for closer regional connectivity.
