House subcommittee will study college admissions testing standards

A new House subcommittee has been created to evaluate the Classic Learning Test (CLT) and determine whether a valid concordance exists, or can be established, between CLT scores and scores on the SAT and ACT – standardized college admissions tests. Rep. Chuck Martin, R-Alpharetta, chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, recently announced the creation of the Higher Education Subcommittee on College Admissions Testing Standards and challenged the newly appointed members.

“I am pleased to announce the creation of the subcommittee and its upcoming work, which requires a timely review this year,” said Martin. “I have asked this subcommittee to thoroughly examine the content and structure of the CLT, ACT and SAT.
