In recent days prominent Democrats and their media allies in Georgia and elsewhere have opined that the Republican midterm convention in Dallas had little or no impact. However, an InsiderAdvantage national survey conducted September 13-14 indicates that the strategy behind President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee to hold the convention has paid off.
Over half of registered voters read, saw or watched portions of the conclave that featured a roster of speakers including Trump, Georgia U.S. Senate candidate U.S. Rep. Mike Collins and the sister of Laken Riley (the Georgia student slain by an illegal alien). InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery says “that’s amazing since the broadcast networks choose to avoid significant coverage.”
Towery predicted the strategy would work on the Fox “Hannity” television program during the final night of the convention, noting that the event was already receiving widespread coverage on social media. As for the poll, it surveyed 800 likely voters with a margin of error of 3.46 percent. Poll tabs can be found HERE.
The whole point of the convention, its organizers stressed, was to fire up and help turn out the Trump-oriented voter base. In Georgia, pundits and consultants for both parties generally agree that the statewide vote is basically going to be determined by which party voter base can motivate the best turnout. So that’s why a lot of Peach State Republicans— including Collins and gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson – felt that the convention energized the GOP base at just the right time.
