Constructing the Atlanta Beltline has sometimes been like piecing together a puzzle, particularly as it weaves its way through residential neighborhoods in the northern parts of the city. But the final piece has been found, with a 0.2-acre purchase in northwest Atlanta marking the final piece of land needed to eventually complete the 22-mile loop around the city. Atlanta Hawks feature in U.S. Senate hearing
It’s not often (if ever?) that the Atlanta Hawks feature in a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. But that’s exactly what happened this week, when U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-MO, used what he thought was a trip to a Hawks game by former special prosecutor Jack Smith as a ‘gotcha’ moment to link him to Fulton County DA Fani Willis. The problem? Smith never went to an Atlanta Hawks game, and the “Hawks game” referenced in text messages referred to an Iowa Hawkeyes game Smith attended in Maryland. Whoops!
