Last Thursday’s debate between Democrat U.S. Sen Jon Ossoff and Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, vying on November 3rd to be Georgia’s next U.S. senator, was one of the nastiest in recent memory— especially if you pay attention to widespread comments on social media.
Ossoff kept calling Collins a “bigot” and implied the Republican was a Nazi sympathizer, while Collins targeted his opponent as a left-wing extremist who supports biological males being in female locker rooms and female sports and who votes with socialist U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders most of the time. The mildest insult was when Collins jabbed Ossoff as just a “trust fund baby.”
The slugfest, hosted by Atlanta News First on Thursday night, featured journalists questioning the candidates on everything from affordability and healthcare to illegal immigration and Iran.
