One week into early voting in Georgia and both Democrats and Republicans have reason for optimism - and cause for concern - when digging deeper into the numbers (shout out to GeorgiaVotes.com, check the site out for yourself to get a closer look).

Total turnout in 2026 so far is 2% higher than in the 2022 midterms, so not an alarming jump overall.

Republicans will be thrilled seeing that two of the three counties with the biggest jumps in early voting are Cherokee and Forsyth, in Atlanta's northern suburbs.  Cherokee's early vote total is 55% higher than 2022's, with Forsyth at 51% higher.  Cherokee went for now-President Donald Trump over Kamala Harris by a 69%-30% margin in 2024's presidential election, while Forsyth was 66% for Trump.  Big turnout in those two Republican strongholds should be a good sign for the GOP.
