Few states in recent years have brought in as much new business as Georgia, and its capital city of course has been the chief beneficiary.

Between burgeoning film and tech industries, the world’s busiest airport, and its location as a transportation hub with proximity to major rail lines, highways, and the Port of Savannah, it is nearly all the city’s government can do to keep up with the growth.

But city officials aren’t resting on their laurels, and by January 23rd look to have a new consultancy in place to draw investment from around the globe.

Invest Atlanta has been taking bids since November for a firm to be the new face of international investment for the city, representing it in bids to foreign companies looking to open new U.S. offices.

Whatever firm wins the contract will look to work alongside existing state agencies and organizations such as the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, which already have existing ties to a variety of foreign cities and countries.

The bids are currently being reviewed, and the winner should be announced soon with the contract set to begin on January 23rd.  Several big names are expected to be in the running, including powerhouse law firm Dentons, where principal and former Invest Atlanta CEO Brian McGowan has confirmed to be vying for the spot.
