Cybersecurity has become a major issue nationally in recent years, and Georgia has a very tangible connection to the issue. Whether it’s bad, like the recent data breach at the Center for Election Systems at Kennesaw State University, or good, like Governor Deal’s $50 million Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, the Peach State has taken notice.
On that note, U.S. Rep. Tom Graves and Georgia Tech are hosting a cybersecurity event in Atlanta next month to help businesses identify and respond to the growing threat of cyber attacks.
Graves has been on the frontline of the cybersecurity issue in Congress, proposing the Active Cyber Defense Certainty Act, which would businesses and individuals to respond more proactively to cyber attacks. He is bringing that expertise back home to Georgia, sitting on a panel along with Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema and three other experts to discuss cybersecurity policy and the challenges that go along with it.
The event, which is by invitation only, is another chance for Graves to spread his message get feedback from like-minded experts as he continues to push for legislation that gives businesses the tools they need to deal with what is becoming a massive threat in the 21st century.
