Video of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and his wife attacked by a left-wing mob and barely protected by just two police officers in Washington, D.C. has been widely shown. But what many may not know is that several Georgians (along with many others from around the country) who also attended the last night of the Republican National Convention were assaulted or harassed after leaving the south lawn of the White House.
“We were harassed by the protesters and were in a very dangerous situation,” Georgia National Committeewoman Ginger Howard posted on her Facebook page. “I must give God all the glory and credit for protecting me and my friend” from what she says were hateful and violence-prone mobs encountered on various streets while trying to navigate her way to a hotel. Howard gave credit to a young man who initially volunteered to guide her and her friend to safety, and to former state GOP Chairman Alec Poitevint “who came to our rescue in the wee hours” of Friday morning.
InsiderAdvantage is told that other Georgia delegates and convention guests who left the White House grounds and went into the D.C. streets– including donors and lobbyists– were screamed at, mocked, cursed and even chased as they feared for their safety. Georgia GOP Chairman David Shafer sarcastically says, “It took us five minutes to walk from our hotel to the White House but an hour to get back— because we avoided the roaming bands of peaceful protestors.”
President Donald Trump blamed Washington, D.C., Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser for restricting the D.C. police force and allowing “anarchists” to get close to the White House. As this is written, no arrests have been made in connection with the many assaults that occurred after the GOP event concluded.
“Our country’s going to change,” the president later said. “We’re (federal law enforcement) not supposed to go in unless we call it an ‘insurrection.’ But you know what we’re going to do? We’re going to have to look at it… because we’re not going to let that happen to people that go to the White House to celebrate our country.”
