Both Jason Carter and David Perdue released new tv spots this week, and both were aggressive in their tone and message.

Carter’s ad stays away from the ethics drama swirling around the state, and instead harps on the education issue that has become the backbone of his campaign.  He warns that under Deal’s tenure we have seen, “the worst contraction of public education in the history of our state” and makes a point to remind the viewer of his plan to create a separate education budget.

It remains to be seen how effective Carter’s education angle will be down the stretch, but you can bet that Governor Deal’s team breathes a sigh of relief every time they see that Carter has spent money on an ad that makes no mention of the word ‘ethics’.

David Perdue finally made his first ad buy of the general election, and he wasn’t shy about going hard after Michelle Nunn.

Hitting on the much publicized leak of Nunn’s campaign strategy, the ad is aggressive, saying that she, “admits she’s too liberal, and her foundation gave money to organizations linked to terrorists”.  The fact that both candidates for U.S. Senate are completely on the offensive at this point tells you everything you need to know about the state of the race – it’s close, with neither candidate having a clear advantage.
