The Georgia Life Alliance (GLA) announced on Tuesday that the state’s leading pro-life group has a new incoming executive director, long-time radio host and conservative activist Martha Zoller. Zoller is a founding board member for the GLA and is taking over at a time when Roe v. Wade is perhaps more up in the air than it has been since the decision in 1973.
“At this unique time in our history and in the fight for the rights of the unborn as well as affirming the value of life at all stages, this mission was too important for me to sit on the sidelines,” said Zoller.
Zoller has worked as a senior staffer for Governor Brian Kemp and former Senator David Perdue. During a time when the Georgia Right to Life group was engulfed in controversy, the Georgia Life Alliance was founded to be a group focused on results and working within political reality. Zoller was a key member of the Founding Board in 2014. She returned to her radio roots on WDUN in Gainesville and is a part of the Sunday panel show the Georgia Gang, along with InsiderAdvantage CEO Phil Kent, among others.
Former director Joshua Edmonds is moving to political consultancy the Stoneridge Group to work on campaigns in Georgia and across the country. Edmonds will continue to serve GLA as Senior Policy Advisor and strategist in a voluntary role.
“From passing the Heartbeat Bill to protecting the pro-life majority in the 2020 elections, we have made pro-life great again in Georgia,” said Edmonds. “It has been the greatest honor of my professional career to serve as Executive Director – but now it’s time for me to focus on making sure we have the right folks in office to preserve the prolife victories we won over the last 3 years. In looking to GLA’s past and future, Martha’s commitment to this organization is a constant. I’m grateful for her continued service to building a culture of life and she has my unwavering support as she takes the wheel.”
Besides the potential Roe v Wade overturn, on the Georgia level, the legislature is considering legislation that would prevent abortion pill delivery by mail and ban the administration of abortion medication in school facilities like public universities and colleges. Other proposals would require a physician to do an examination 24 hours before an abortion and add an ultrasound requirement.
“The shoes Joshua leaves behind are big ones to fill, but Martha is a one-of-a-kind leader who is going to bring GLA to the next level. I’m so excited to welcome her back into the GLA family,” said GLA Board Chairwoman Emily Matson.
