Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has had a rocky couple of years, but company officials say their $5 billion factory in Social Circle, east of Atlanta, is moving forward as planned.  The site has faced a barrage of legal challenges from upset neighbors worried about the activity and noise that a massive facility could produce.  Then Rivian itself has posted disappointing numbers that have led critics to question its path to profitability despite a massive cash infusion following its 2021 initial public offering.  But executives are pleased with the Georgia sites progress, saying that dirt grading should be done by the end of this year and production is still scheduled to begin in 2024.  When fully operational in 2030 the site will produce 400,000 vehicles a year.
