A new proposal from Atlanta City Councilwoman Keisha Sean Waites would push back closing time from 2:30AM to 4AM, and it’s naturally bringing with it some controversy. The “Atlanta Hospitality Act” seeks to keep bars open later, with supporters pointing to the extra revenue it could generate for the city. Part of the proposal also includes additional security cameras in nightlife neighborhoods. But critics say it would increase crime rates – and not just DUIs – many of the city’s shootings occur outside of nightclubs in the early morning hours. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
