Cobb and Gwinnett Counties outside Atlanta will have a busy ballot next year.  Each will likely ask residents to vote on a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to fund Bus Rapid Transit, an option that supporters say could offer the benefits of rail service at a fraction of the cost.  The SPLOSTS will face opposition as well, with some saying it is unnecessary and wouldn’t have enough ridership in the comparatively spread out counties to be worth a price tag in the billions of dollars.  Expect to hear a lot more about BRT in 2024 – DRIFTING…
