Cobb and Gwinnett Counties outside Atlanta will have a busy ballot next year. Each will likely ask residents to vote on a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to fund Bus Rapid Transit, an option that supporters say could offer the benefits of rail service at a fraction of the cost. The SPLOSTS will face opposition as well, with some saying it is unnecessary and wouldn’t have enough ridership in the comparatively spread out counties to be worth a price tag in the billions of dollars. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
