One of the more controversial bills so far this session is HB 1192, which would pause the sales tax exemption going toward data centers for two years while a committee studies the issue.  The bill passed the House Wednesday by a 96-71 margin, but it is opposed by the Georgia Chamber and IBEW, who both say it will hurt the budding industry.  On the flip side the Public Service Commission heard at a recent hearing about the immense strain that these new high tech data centers put on the state’s power grid, prompting the legislation.  Expect debate to be intense in the Senate, leaving the bill’s future there DRIFTING…
