If any part of the state is ‘Trump Country’ it’s northwest Georgia, and that’s exactly where former President Donald Trump will be campaigning Saturday when his presidential campaign descends on Rome. The rally is scheduled for The Forum, in downtown, but U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who represents the area, is pushing for it to be moved to the airport, which can accommodate larger crowds. A rally in 2020 in Rome drew close to 20,000 attendees, so expect a raucous scene this weekend when Trump World heads to ‘Trump Country’ ahead of the state’s March 12 presidential primary. While that race is more or less a formality, both Trump and President Joe Biden, who is coming to the Atlanta area himself over the weekend, are sure to make the Peach State a key priority ahead of their November rematch at the polls.
