Oconee County Sheriff James Hale says his jail houses up to 35 inmates from other counties for $60/day/inmate. Currently, it averages around 31 to 32 inmates on a daily basis under this program. Based on 30 inmates from other jurisdictions housed in the Oconee jail, this generates $1,800 in revenue on a daily basis. Annualized, that’s $657,000 in revenue. And, by the way.
