This weekend the Atlanta Open tennis tournament will be played for the last time, after 14 years at Atlantic Station in Midtown. The ATP Tour event is the only major professional tennis tournament held in Atlanta, but thanks to a scheduling crunch it is being disbanded after this year. That means Atlanta, a city known for hosting major sporting events and with 80,000 registered ALTA (the best-known tennis association) members will no longer be on the tour. Hopefully one day professional tennis returns to the Peach State but for now its presence in Georgia is SINKING…
Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
