The Athens-Clarke County Courthouse building in downtown has been shut down for a full week thanks to an unusual issue – a bedbug infestation.  The historic downtown Athens building, which houses the offices of the sheriff, tax commissioner, district attorney and others, is scheduled to reopen July 29, assuming the pests can be removed.  In the meantime county services have hit a snag, with all jury trials and hearings suspended.  This is the second bedbug infestation the courthouse has faced in recent years after a 2023 incident similarly closed the building for about a week.  The damaging (and gross) infestation has Athens Clark Co. government operations SINKING…
