Since the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission was restructured in 2017 it has been overseen by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney as the presiding officer of its three-member hearing panel. But after a successful seven-year stint McBurney announced this week he will be stepping down from the voluntary position, to be succeeded by Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Brian Rickman. The JQC oversees the state’s approximately 1,600 judges, hearing complaints and doling out punishments as necessary, an integral component in keeping the state’s judiciary fair and transparent. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
