In 2023 Gov. Brian Kemp gave final approval to the Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission, a watchdog group meant to investigate and potentially punish district attorneys who are not upholding public safety. The commission has yet to carry out any investigations, but that hasn’t stopped a group of DAs from pushing back on it. A lawsuit from three DAs, two Democrats and one Republican, was upheld this week by a Fulton Co. judge and will be allowed to continue. The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
