Brookhaven officials surprised by MARTA closure

City of Brookhaven officials were taken aback when they first learned that their MARTA station – located right next to City Hall – was set to be closed for six weeks for renovations.  That’s because they found out about it at the same time as the public, through a press release.  “This is the first I’ve heard of this at all!” said Brookhaven City Council member Jennifer Owens.  Other officials expressed dismay that they didn’t have more time to work with constituents about alternate means of transportation, since many in the area rely on MARTA.  MARTA ridership has been on the decline since COVID, and communication breakdowns even with friendly city governments has the agency SINKING…
