The future of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam near Augusta has been a hot topic among locals in recent years following a proposal from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to demolish it and put in its place a smaller, rock dam. That would have majorly reduced water levels in the Savannah River along that stretch, impacting recreation and businesses along the river. Tucked into Water Resources Development Act though, signed by President Joe Biden this week, was language directing a “full repair” of the dam, ensuring its safety.  RISING…
