A Republican-led U.S. Senate bill to prevent boys from participating in girls’ sports failed to overcome a filibuster on Monday after it didn’t reach the necessary 60-vote threshold to advance. The bill failed by a vote of 51-45— with all Democrats including Georgians Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock voting no. The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
