For years supporters of the Atlanta Beltline subscribed to the notion that one day it would receive light rail expansion. After all it was built with rail in mind, with right of ways secured and Atlanta voters overwhelmingly approving a sales tax hike to fund it back in 2016. Nearly a decade later and not only has the city made no progress, but now Mayor Andre Dickens says the city’s “vision” of Beltline rail is changing and that other types of transit may be needed. And in any case, any sort of rail construction is far away (and probably needs some more expensive, years-long studies). Hope for Atlanta rail expansion is SINKING…
Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
