In recent weeks, Dr. Randell Trammell entered the race for Georgia State School Superintendent. As he starts his campaign, those who know him well say he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience focused on fostering student success both inside and outside the classroom. He believes that his conviction that students deserve an education that extends beyond the classroom is a driving force behind his decision to run.
According to his campaign press release, Trammell stated, “I’m running because I believe Georgia’s students deserve a school system that prepares them not just for tests but for life.” Trammell believes he has a passion for providing students with a well-rounded education throughout his career. He holds an undergraduate degree in religious education, a doctorate in education, and a master’s degree in business administration.
Trammell is also the founder and CEO of the Georgia Center for Civic Engagement, through which he hopes to dedicate himself to providing the necessary tools needed to ensure student and teacher success. The organization offers a plethora of materials, programs, and opportunities for individuals to prosper and become engaged citizens.
As a father of three and the husband of a teacher, he has a personal connection to fight for change within the school system of Georgia. His background appears to provide a strong foundation for his campaign. Trammell’s campaign is built on three core pillars: restoring educational excellence, empowering educators, and engaging communities. With his demonstrated dedication and experience, Trammell is hoping to bring about educational change that will lead to more active and informed members of society so that they can thrive beyond any classroom.
Trammell will be running against the incumbent state school Superintendent Richard Woods in the Republican primary held in May of 2026. The exact date of the Republican primary has not yet been determined by the Secretary of State.
