A new long-range outlook for Atlanta Public Schools reveals trouble on the horizon for one of the state’s largest school districts. Faced with declining enrollment rates and increasing costs, district officials unveiled a plan that would “repurpose” as many as 16 school buildings, including nine outright closures. Teachers and parents have voiced objections to the closures, but when the district is built out to serve 70,000 students and currently only has some 50,000 enrolled, belts need to be tightened somewhere. Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov.
