Georgia Democrats pulled off a major upset Tuesday when Democrat Eric Gisler defeated Republican Mack “Dutch” Guest by the narrowest of margins in an Athens-area state House seat. It’s notable because just last year Gisler took home only 39% of the vote against then-Rep. Marcus Wiedower (who resigned this year) in what was thought to be a safely-red district. The result has Dems crowing and alarm bells sounding for Republicans heading into next year’s midterms, as there are more than a dozen House districts that are thought to be more competitive than this one. Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov.
