The big winner from Sunday’s snore-inducing loser of a Super Bowl might be a Georgia’s own Coca-Cola. Their rival Pepsi decided to bet the ad farm on backing what from start to finish was a plastic, non-compelling, vapid, (insert your own adjective here) contest. Coke reportedly decided to put its big bucks into the Winter Olympics and the many hours of broadcasts scheduled to start later this week. James never found the sport of curling to be all that compelling, but now we’re waiting breathlessly for every motion of whatever it is they fling across the ice to move that giant whatever you call it. …Oh, and speaking of one of the worst Super Bowls in history, it could also be termed “Atlanta’s Revenge.” Yes, the Falcons fell to Denver in the 1999 contest to decide the 1998 NFL champion. But the half-flat Falcons of that year look, in retrospect, more like Joe Namath’s New York Jets of 1969 when compared to the Broncos in this year’s fiasco. Don’t give up Falcons fans, our day will come. Super Bowl…SINKING…Falcons, hopefully RISING in 2014.
Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
