A fast legislative pace & one more day!

The last day of the General Assembly session— Sine Die— is today. But the action probably can’t top Wednesday’s activity highlighted by rapid-fire, basically party-line votes resulting in Republican wins to ban divisive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) teachings in schools and permitting President Donald Trump and his Georgia allies to recoup legal fees resulting from Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ indictments and prosecutions.

Each year an estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation.  For every case of elder abuse or neglect reported, as many as 24 more cases go unreported.  Of the unreported cases involving financial abuse alone, each year elderly Americans lose an estimated $2.6 billion dollars.

Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention

The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.  Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.”  The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
