The Georgia Ports Authority’s Workforce Housing Initiative is already showing some results in Savannah. So far, 178 families have been able to repair, buy or build a home thanks to the program, with nearly $1.7 million committed to the program since the start of the program in September 2023.

Proposed budget would create state’s first optometry school

Despite Georgia’s renowned higher education system, it’s an interesting quirk that the state does not have any optometry schools. The Peach State is not unique in that regard – there are only 25 accredited schools and colleges of optometry in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, with the closest being at the University of Alabama.

Debate heats up over school zone camera bills

Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention

The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.  Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.”  The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
