Kemp announces Rural Site Development grants

Since taking office as Georgia’s top leader, Gov. Brian Kemp has been committed to promoting growth in rural Georgia. As his second term draws closer to a close, Kemp announced the fourth round of grants from the Rural Site Development Initiative (RSDI) within the OneGeorgia Authority — totaling $7.8 million for 10 local projects across the state.

Sonny Perdue to retire as USG chair

University System of Georgia Board of Regents Chair Sonny Perdue announced his plans to retire Wednesday, marking the end of a storied, four-decade political career.  A former state senator, two-term governor, and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture during President Donald Trump’s first term, Perdue will continue to serve until the Board can find a successor.

Senator applauds veterans’ legislation reaching Kemp’s desk

Building on the momentum of the 2025 legislative session, the Senate Committee on Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security, was able to pass a bill this year that extends burial eligibility in state veterans’ cemeteries to veterans from the Hmong-Laotian special guerrilla units who served with U.S. forces during the Vietnam War. House Bill 985 is now sitting on the Governor’s desk and awaiting his signature.

Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?

Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger.  In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities.  Gov.
