Jackson, Collins headline primary runoff winners

Some 500,000 Georgia voters – more than 70 percent of them Republican – cast votes on a rainy Tuesday in the state’s primary runoff elections.  The big winners?  Billionaire Rick Jackson and U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, who secured wins in the GOP primary runoffs for governor and U.S. Senate, respectively.

Georgians now eligible for Hurricane Helene relief

Beginning today, Georgia farmers, ranchers and foresters who suffered losses from Hurricane Helene can now apply for federal assistance through the Georgia Hurricane Helene Block Grant Program beginning today. In September, Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper announced Georgia will receive $531,236,000 to provide relief for commodities and losses that are not covered under pre-existing USDA programs.

DNR announces new grants through Recreational Trails Program

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently announced the selection of projects for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grants. RTP helps to support the construction and rehabilitation of trails across the state, to encourage outdoor activity and enhance tourism opportunities as well.

Georgia AG defends state law designed to keep kids safe online

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr was in federal court recently, fighting to defend a current state law that requires parental consent before social media platforms can enter into account agreements with kids aged 15 and younger. The hearing on Senate Bill 351 took place last week in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Jacksonville, Florida.

House budget includes funds for food security for Georgia kids

As legislators close in on the end of the 2026 legislative session, their focus is currently on the passage of a budget. Earlier this week, the House overwhelmingly approved House Bill 974 – the House version of the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget that includes the state’s share of funding to make sure Georgia children are fed during the summer.

Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?

Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger.  In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities.  Gov.
