With the runoffs only a few hours behind them, lawmakers return to the Gold Dome today to convene a special session of the Georgia General Assembly. The agenda initially included two items for consideration by legislators but will now include three more issues after Gov. Brian Kemp expanded the list of issues to be considered.

House approves Fiscal Year 2027 budget
The Georgia House overwhelmingly approved House Bill 974 – the House version of the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget – Tuesday morning which Speaker Jon Burns says reaffirms the House’s commitment to “strengthening education, improving access to quality, affordable healthcare and investing in communities across Georgia.” The budget is now in the Senate for consideration.
Education bills make Crossover deadline
As lawmakers worked into the night Friday to meet the Crossover deadline, multiple education bills were approved by the House and Senate — including a bill that builds on the Georgia Promise Scholarship law which provides school vouchers for students.

Governor Brian Kemp joined the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) in announcing that Georgia has again made history by surpassing $60.2 billion in exports in calendar year 2025.
