Kemp and SRTA announce $26 mill for transportation projects

Gov. Brian Kemp and the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) Board announced the next round of funding for the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB). The $26 million in grants and low-interest loans will go towards 20 transportation roadway projects and two regional airport projects.

Pair of Senate bills seek to protect children online

Two bills filed in the Senate this week are designed to “mitigate harms to children online.” The legislation was filed by members of the Senate Study Committee on the Impact of Social Media and Artificial Intelligence on Children and Platform Privacy Protection as a result of meetings held during the off session.

House passes “historic” early literacy, education bills

Tuesday was billed as ‘Education Day’ in the House Chamber. State Representatives passed a “historic” package of early literacy and education bills, marking a major milestone in strengthening educational opportunities for Georgia’s children, most notably House Bill 1193, the Georgia Early Literacy Act of 2026, according to House Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington.

Senate’s amended budget includes funding for state mental hospital

Friday’s passage by the Senate of their Amended Fiscal Year 2026 Budget includes what many called a “bold move” to address mental health in Georgia. The legislation, being carried by Sen. Blake Tillery, R-Vidalia, passed the Senate floor with a vote of 49-1 and includes $409 million for the construction of a mental health services hospital.

Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?

Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger.  In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities.  Gov.
