As Atlanta City Councilwoman Mary Norwood maintains her lead in the polls to replace Kasim Reed as Mayor of Atlanta, her competitors have not slowed down their fundraising efforts as they jostle for position ahead of the November election.

City Council President Ceasar Mitchell leads the way in terms of fundraising dollars thus far, reporting $1,699,086 raised thus far and boasting $529,342 on hand.  He is followed closely by ex-Atlanta COO Peter Aman, who reported $1,656,238 and $801,179.  Most of Aman’s funds are from the candidate himself in the form of a personal loan to the campaign.

Norwood posted a respectable total at $1,019,464, with a war chest of $653,278 that she hopes will allow her to maintain her polling advantage over the rest of the summer.  Cathy Woolard, ($835,121 raised thus far) Keisha Lance-Bottoms, ($664,301) and Kwanza Hall, ($513,051) follow the pack, each hoping to gain a momentum surge that will send them into a runoff.

Those numbers don’t exactly jump off the page, especially following what was the most expensive Congressional race ever in CD-6 earlier this summer.  They are up from 2009 though, when Reed and Norwood raised less than $1.5 million each by the October fundraising deadline, still months removed from where we stand today.
