The Atlanta home of Rodney and Emily Cook, the one-time residence of the late former GOP state Chairman Rodney M. Cook Sr., was the scene of the Fulton County Republican Party’s Christmas party last night featuring a rare appearance by former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and his successor as representative in the 6th Congressional District Karen Handel.
Former Congressman Price told this writer that he will be “back in the public arena next year” in some capacity in the area of healthcare. He noted with pride the work that he and his team performed during his tenure with the Trump administration — especially through HHS rule-making that scaled back “a lot of over-regulation.” He was accompanied by his wife state Rep. Betty Price, R-Roswell.
The highlight of the fund-raising event presided over by Chairman Trey Kelly was a brief speech by Congresswoman Handel. She assured the dozens of donors and party activists that “Tuesday will be the big day when the House of Representatives passes long-awaited tax reform.” She said while the legislation is “not perfect” it contains “needed reforms” along with tax cuts and tax simplification that will benefit most Americans and further stimulate the economy.
Handel also declared the GOP-controlled Senate would follow suit by voting for passage after the House vote this week.
