History was made in Cobb County Monday as Joyette Holmes was sworn into office by Brian Kemp, making her Cobb County’s first black district attorney. Holmes, formerly Cobb’s chief magistrate judge, succeeds Vic Reynolds, who is now the director of the GBI. She said that he plans on running for re-election in 2020, when Reynolds’ term is up. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science. As he prepares to locate in a country (a U.S. ally) bordered by Romania and Ukraine, his boat (and Georgia’s) is RISING….
