It was a record setting weekend for Atlanta’s Peachtree Road Race, as both male and female winners posted incredible times in the 10K race. Rhonex Kipruto won for the men, running the fastest 10K ever on American soil at 27:01. Female winner Brigid Kosgei also broke the elite women’s record with an unofficial time of 30:22. In addition, records were broken for both men and women in the Shepherd Center wheelchair divisions. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science. As he prepares to locate in a country (a U.S. ally) bordered by Romania and Ukraine, his boat (and Georgia’s) is RISING….
