Cobb County this week became the latest Metro Atlanta county to announce they would no longer arrest individuals caught with misdemeanor amounts of the drug, and will instead confiscate and destroy it. Cobb joins nearby DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties in relaxing their policy on pot, which comes following the signing of the Hemp Farming Act, which allows for hemp plants containing trace amounts of THC to be produced by licensed growers and possessed by individuals. Hemp, which does not contain enough THC to get a user high, is nearly identical to actual marijuana and can not be told apart by law enforcement officers.
